So thinking about it is as close as you got to doing it? Well they do say it's the thought that counts.

The way I see it, the fault is on the missus. ie - they're not using the proper motivation tools.

For instance, in Dave's situation: If Alison were to phrase her request in the following manner

Dave luv, have you decided what material you are going to use to build the shelving for your wonderful collection of RC aeroplanes in your man cave / hanger, so I'll have the room we need for our household goods?

Ian, I don't know how to help you in your dilemma because you didn't give me anything to go on.

I WILL actually put shelves in the shed at some point. We got close last week. Dropped into the local B&Q having worked out what I was going to do only to find the bits available there did not fit my plan. I made a tactical withdrawal to regroup. I have battens to put on the ceiling to hang the models off but they're leaning against a wall at the moment
