Bad Year

Post by NigelC »

Just want to say, I've had the most appaling 12 months of my life, and it's not getting any better. :(

The one and only escape I have is to slip into my virtual FS world, it's a godsend. It doesn't solve anything, but gives me a few hours respite now and again. :fly:

So many thanks to you guys and especially DM for his divine One Eleven.

Hiya Nige :hello:

Sri to hear things aren't picking up mate. I'd thought after the last setback you'd be on the up but I guess that hasn't happened :(

Fear not.. CBFS is full of cranky old gits (I speak for myself and anyone else who wants to be included  ) with an axe to grind and a tale to tell which helps us all take our minds off things we'd rather not think of

Dave knows a bit of the story but for the rest........

2/8/11 Company I was working for was going down the pan, so decided to get out and try a bit of freelancing,

7/10/11 Split with my partner of 5 years.
16/10/11 50th Birthday...wrecked by above.

31/1/12 Freelancing not really working so had to knock it the head.

12/3/12 Start new job.
15/3/12 Sent home from work not feeling well, spend 3 days lying on my sofa with a mop bucket as my best friend, constantly vomiting and headache, suspect bug or food poisoning.
18/3/12 Decide to go to hospital, blood tests are taken and then sent for a CT scan. Told I have a 3cm tumour in my head (On Pituitary Gland). Admitted to hospital, later told I was in a very bad way when admitted. I was having a Pituitary Apoplexy.
23/5/12 Discharged for R and R at home after I had been stabilsed and put on appropriate medication. Left eye is now shut and completely paralysed.

25/4/12 Admitted for Operation to remove tumour, and so decompress the nerves to my left eye. Endoscopic Transsphenoidal Hypophysectomy (see below)
27/4/12 Discharged.

3/5/12 Wake in middle of night, vomiting, dehydrated, dizzy. By the time at got to hospital, barely conscious. When the got me in the couldn't get a blood pressure from my left arm so they went to the right and got 65/50. I've picked an infection of some sort.
11/5/12 8 days and 6 litres of antibiotics later, discharged. They don't know what caused it and only suspect that it could have been in my chest.

End of May Left eye starts to open.

Yesterday Situation with eye is that 90% left/right movement returned but ny have about 5% up/down movement. As to the Pituitary, I shall be on Hormone medication for the rest of my days.

And to cap it all........

Today I received a message from my landlord who wants my flat back so that he and his family can move in. I have until the end of the year to find somewhere else. Not easy when you're not working and on pittance benefits!

Good grief Nigel, what a terrible time you are going through. There is a large R.C. church in Cambridge, which I often visit when its empty and peaceful, and I can sit and meditate on the meaning of life etc. Anyway, before I leave I always light a candle for someone I know ( always just one person ) and send up some hopes for them. You are next on the list. All best wishes to you.

What a sad story, Nigel. I'm so sorry, mate. On the positive side, it sounds like your body is starting to heal. It won't be quick but at least it's something better in the future. I expect everything looks worse without somebody to lean on so you've got to try and deal with the problems without support.

I can't imagine that these miserable old gits here are much help, either. They depress the hell out of me and I'm reasonably healthy at the moment. Still, if you've got nowhere else, at least you can laugh at them, eh?

It's good that you've decided to tell us about your misfortunes and hopefully sharing it like this will help you in some way. I really do hope that we can make you feel a bit better. But however sympathetic we are, don't expect us to let you off the hook completely. You'll have to take your share of abuse just like everybody else

Fingers crossed for you, Nigel.

Ian :)
