I am not sure that it is fair to describe this report as "overhyped" . No evacuation is a pleasant experience, and one where fire is suspected and smoke is actually present is particularly unpleasant . The events at Manchester on 22nd August 1985 have not been forgotten in the UK . Suffice it to say that 20 people were injured, and that as a result this was a far from straightforward incident

The earlier headlines were referring to screaming and sheer panic.

The people were saying there was no panic as the aircraft was brought to a halt

Interesting incident... any evacuation will result in injuries, which is why it is carefully considered before calling for.

I just wish passengers would:

a. Dress appropriately for flying (the old adage "dress to survive" or at least dress to run away! Why people wera high-heels or flip-flops on an ac is really beyond me!)

b. Listen to the safety brief and think about how they would get out (and if they don't want to listen at least have the courtesy to SHUT UP while it is been given).

It drives me nuts that everyone thinks it will never happen to them... I really hate sitting down the back these days as I really think the biggest risk to my safety on an aircraft is the other passengers; they seem to have no idea, interest or common sense. I plan my route out and what I am going to do every time...

In the article in this morning's 'Scotsman' it states that the airline declined to reveal how much the pilots and cabin crew are paid!Just what is the f*****g relevance of that? The headline quotes pax as saying that the aircraft shook.Reverse thrust maybe? I'm sure it must have been scary especially for anyone remembering the BA 737 incident at Manchester but the press reallydon't help!Eric!

I have aborted a take-off twice for real and dozens of time in the sim... and yes, I am sure from a passenger point of view it is scary, but it will shake and rattle and there will be a lot of noise; if it was near V1 it will have been a very "exciting" ride.

But, it is far better to be down here wishing you where up there than up there wishing you where down here!

Just a shame that the press have to blow everything out of proportion. I am sure there is a secton out there that are gutted it wasn't more spectacular! I don't like the press

I've had a few landings that had lots of noise and shake, probably because the pilot wanted to get her on the deck and clear as quickly as possible. One was landing in a BritAir CRJ into Strasbourg some years back, but everyone was glad to be safely on the terra firma. It certainly sounds like the Pilots and crew did a grand job.
