Not sure it would work in France either - especially if the kids were speaking in 'Verlan' (its some letters or even the word backwards).
Parisienne & Marseillese could give it problems too - similar to Glasgow - Geordie methinks, & some of our locals speak Occitain french.
How would it cope with text speak???
