The 'brown bomber'. Flew in a lot of them and serviced all of them. To replace the elastic bungee chord that opened the front door you had to remove the radio crate. 2 days work so the riggers could get access to the chord. We hated that job. XS637 (Norway) had a nodding weather radar scanner that we could not fix. Had a habit of coming to Thorney Island on a weekend to clear any faults it incurred flying around Northern Europe. XS602 had a Doppler system that always switched itself off after take off (we did manage to fix that one).

But it was the first RAF aircraft I ever worked on so it is still my favourite. thanks for posting.

XS606 has now sadly retired after 37 years at Boscombe Down. :( Apparently bound for Kenya. Not sure about XS646 though.

Some excellent photos's. Flew in most of 46, all of Andover OCU, and all of 84's..............remembered with affection. On 84 we had no titles on the fuse, just the roundels, the Scorpion and a letter code on the tail. Can't for the life of me remember the "orange spinners" though...........there again it was 43 years ago :) XS645 when we had it on 84 was coded "E"...............I guess 46 took it over following 84's disbandment at Muharraq.
