My random screenshot thread

As a bit of light relief from the reconfiguring, I thought I would see what Alice Springs looks like with the new video card. The answer is - very nice indeed. REX is running, and certainly creating the correct conditions for mid summer in the outback. Not a cloud to be seen anywhere, just as you would expect.

Emergency delivery of Fosters...

I really need to attempt an Adastra Aerial Survey repaint on this one...

I can almost feel the sun beating down on me. Fortunately, there is a Coke machine over there where those people are.

Wow! There's not much wrong with that card, is there, Paul? Fantastic shots, incredibly crisp and clear.

Ian :)

Indeed.. very nice :thumbsup:

BTW Ian/Paul.. I happened to fly into Spokane in FSX today for want of something to do. Do yourselves a favour and DO NOT go there in P3D. Wait for the FTX version :lol:

Default airports are very scary places, aren't they? It's like being in one of those movies about the nuclear winter :lol: I do have an advantage at Spokane as I've already got the greater landscape area of FTX Central Rockies ready to pop Spokane in place. So I've got moderately enhanced airports with more accurate runways, buildings of a variety of geometric shapes and some scattered vehicles and aircraft for the tumbleweeds to roll up against :lol:

You may have gone to Spokane Intl. But the new FTX airport is Felts Field, Spokane, which is a GA field. I've already got a couple of flights set up ready for when it arrives - to save time :lol:

There WILL be screenshots :lol:

Ian :)

:lol: :lol: :lol: Thanks for the warning Dave !

Guys, I'm getting blistering performance now, thanks to the GTX-650ti card. I'm using the stock 'virgin' p3d.cfg, with only one tweak added to it;

[JOBSCHEDULER]
AffinityMask=84

I'm running in full screen mode 1920 x 1080 x 32 with all the scenery sliders at maximum ( AI traffic is set down around 15% ), the internal frame rate limiter set to 30, and all my Nvidia Inspector settings exactly as Kosta's. You can see in this picture, with Autogen set at maximum, the frame rate has barely dipped below 30. I am delighted to say the least, and kicking myself for sticking with that old GTX-285 for so long.

Here's a couple more showing the wake and spray effects that come with the OzX reworking of the default Goose. They certainly did a wonderful job with it.

That's about as good as it gets, I reckon, Paul. It even makes the Goose look attractive :lol:

You're going to be pretty busy now exploring all your old sceneries again!

Ian :)

Ian, yes I really can lay the tweaking aside now. The next thing is networking Plan G v3 with P3D, and after that who knows...I might do some long distance flying!

I really recommend the OzX mod for the stock Grumman Goose. Its one of the best default aircraft MSFS ever delivered, and the OzX enhancement brings with it a new flight model, new cockpit textures, and new HD external paints. I've always wanted to do a round-the-world trip in FSX / P3D, and even though I have many fine payware add-on aircraft, the OzX Goose is high on the list of possible aircraft to do the trip in.
