Very sorry to hear that the genius that was Gerry Anderson has passed away.

RIP Gerry - Thunderbirds are GO.....

Missed this. Most certainly the passing of an era

Like you mate, I grew up on Fireball XL5, Supercar and Thunderbirds.
RIP Mr A.. I can't imagine my childhood without you

Also sadly gone- Jack Klugman. I loved Quincy; not the best viewing but strangely compelling.

Indeed mate. If ever a show and a star were well matched, Quincy and Jack Klugman were it. Regardless of the show content, he was believable and that made it all work

The ones I particularly remember from childhood, and mainly because I got the toys for Xmas/Birthdays, were Thunderbirds (T1), Captain Scarlet (SPV), UFO (SHADO Interceptor and Mobile) and Space 1999 (Eagle)

I remember when I was young (12ish) we went to a Gerry Anderson Exhibition located on the Golden Mile in Blackpool once while on holiday there. It had everything I ever wanted to have closer look at, including a very large (6 foot ish) remote control model of FAB1. The best stuff by far though was the large range of versions and sizes of various Eagles from Space 1999, my most favorite program.
I stood for ages marveling at the model makers skills on show through them (we were really into Aifrfix kits at the time)...
Happy days those were....
I must dig out Eugene Heyart's Eagle Transporter for FS9 and have another look at it.
I had managed to build in VTOL capability into it once, using some stuff by Rob Barendregt for the LIS Jupiter2 ...
