Highlands and Islands Flying, BBC iPlayer
Something you may have missed as it was on the BBC Alba Gaelic language channel!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... nd_Flying/
It's only available on iPlayer until Monday morning so if you do want to watch it you'll need to get a shift on, whether it'll get another airing in the New Year I'm not sure. It's a very nice 60 minute programme about the Loganair Highland and Islands operation. Be warned, the commentary and some interviews are in Scots Gaelic with subtitles, but other interviews are in English, and of course, it'll probably be unavailable to those of you outside the UK. It can also be accessed by those of you with wifi smart TV which is where I found it.
There is some BEA DC3 and fixed-wheel Heron action as well as the Twotter, Islander and S340 fleet of Loganair. Features beach landings at Barra and Islander operations into Westray and Papa westray amongst others. One of those little gems of a regional television broadcast the BBC tend to do rather well and which are now more widely available to the rest of the country via iPlayer.

Mark , Thanks for the link ; as Speedbird says great with breakfast . Just realised it's 20 years since I finished the best 4 years of my life .. a Glasgow based ''Island Pilot '' . The film has it exactly right ... magic people places and times indeed . May I commend these books '' Island Pilot , Capt Alan Whitfield ISBN 978-0-9518-9588-7 , Times subject to tides , The Story of Barra airport , Roy Calderwood ISBN 0-9518958-3-4 '' to you all .

Lovely hour spent
Thanks for the link Mark
Nice to know that in some parts flying is almost like the old days...even down to the frequent reg swapping at Barra

Thanks Mark...just finished watching it on the iplayer on TV...very interesting especially those Heron shots.
Also thanks DaveF for the book list, I have a copy of BEAline to the Islands By Phil Lo Bao and Iain Hutchinson which is another good read featuring the BEA Dragon Rapide days. The Scottish Islands and the Scillies are well covered also the Isle of Man. A most enjoyable read about flying in days gone by.
Regards

MarkW,
I understand that you might be going back to the 'dark ages' of Llanbedr next year - I hear drone flying will maybe reappear!
