... ok so it's not the real one, but all the same it'd be lovely to have!

It's actually XF300

Considering what some of these things cost, under 30k doesn't seem toooo bad?

Interestingly another WB188 painted Hunter (the more famous G-Hunt once owned and flown by Spencer Flack) that was in the USA was up for sale for years recently for $50k dropping to $30k I think last time I saw it on Courtesy Aircraft's website- http://www.thunder-and-lightnings.co.uk ... php?id=357

There's nothing like the real thing, though! :agree: My first ever published photo - it appears on the April page of this year's Flypast calender - it was taken from the top of a rather rickety stepladder with the curator trying to hold it steady while I tried to operate the camera whilst clinging on for dear life - I've never been good with heights.

I somehow can't see this aircraft ever being sold but, even so, how do you put a price on such an historic airframe?

Yes, I know and the answer is no you can't. The only person normally allowed in the cockpit was Neville himself on his frequent visits to the museum but since his death , no one gets in the cockpit - a mark of respect, you see.

If you just want to see what it's like inside, I have a photo I can post here - and in case anyone is wondering, I took it from outside on the ladder and just put my camera against the back of the seat.

All the best
Pete

OK, Ben - I'll dig it out. I may put a watermark across it because I think it's probably something of a rarity.

HMMM...I once had the pleasure of polishing a red Hunter to get it ready for an airshow but I have no idea which one it was. :dunno:

I was on an 'annual camp' with the ATC and that year we went to RAF Chivenor in Devon for a week. There was to be an airshow at the base the weekend we left (boo hoo) but we were tasked with polishing said red Hunter to get it ready for the show. I am guessing that it would have been in either 1970 or 71 but I am not sure now what exact year it was.

Here you go, Ben. Many apologies for putting that watermark across them and I hope it doesn't spoil your enjoyment of them.
