Beechcraft has emerged from bankruptcy protection.

They have discontinued the production of biz jets spelling the end of, amongst others, the HS.125 derivatives.

I've been following this for a while. I get the impression that the newer jet developments, both the Horizon/4000 and the newer smaller Beech jets perhaps overstretched the company. Raytheon, who originally purchased it from BAe had already sold out a few years back and I suppose they were stuck with some rather ageing designs (the 125-800 which is as old as I am), the -1000 I think was discontinued having never been too popular, and something trying to be a Gulfstream (Horizon/4000) that wasn't a Gulfstream. One insider I know told me that he thought sales dipped after production was shifted away from the UK because customers were used to a certain level of quality from the Hawarden plant and weren't sure they would get that from Wichita.

I have a book on the 125 where BAe showed an artists impression for they described as the "ultimate development of the 125" which looks curiously like the Horizon/4000 which didn't appear until many years later after BAe had sold the company.

But, from our perspective (as a bunch of nostalgic "classic" types ) sad that the DH 125 and its descendants have finally come to an end.

In a way, it is also a final curtain for DH.

Not that the latest jets have much if anything in common, they would not exist if DH had not built the 125. Some other modern Beech-jets stem from that thinking.

they also took on the Mitsubishi Diamond as the BeechJet 400.

Nothing much original as they have adopted designs and them worked from that base and perhaps what they lacked id originality and instead tried to mould the old designs into competitors to companies that have produced original designs for many years.

The later Beech design has either a sort of 125 look about them or a kid of Diamond style..

Ah well...I was only looking closely at a Hawker 800XP and thinking to me it's still a 125
