Classic British Flight Sim

Hi chaps,

I was talking to a colleague in work who had mentioned he'd got some money back on a miss sold PPI from years ago. While I had thought I wouldn't have been eligible, I now think I might be. I don't have the time to do it myself, so im you going to use one of these companies to investigate it on my behalf. Have any of you a company that you have dealt with with regards PPI claims that you would recommend?

At first, I thought that I knew nothing on this subject, but I looked it up:
PPI, peptidylprolyl isomerase, a human chaperone (protein)
Sounds like a breeze to me, I'll take it on, for an up front payment.

And I hear a voiceover:
Watch it Mike - I think all you'll get up front is a "punch in the frote".

I honestly wouldn't bother with a claims company, all they'll do is get you to fill out the same form you'd use if you did it yourself and then take ~20% of any payout.
You can download the form from the financial ombudsmen service website, fill it out in half an hour and post it. That's probably less time than you'll spend dealing with a claims company who're doing nothing more for you.

Concur, they're a bloody nuisance.

Thanks chaps. I need someone to do the legwork though. I know you can do it FOC through the ombudsman, but I have little or no paperwork left (shredded it all when they were all paid off and had a bonfire) without thinking I might need it in the future

As long as you have an idea of when you got the card/loan that covered the policy it doesn't matter you just fill in what you do know on the form. A friend of mine worked in Barclays PPI claim department for a couple of months and was continually annoyed at the claims companies for doing literally nothing extra and getting 20% of the claim, they do absolutely zero legwork.
All I had to do for my claim was fill in the form, and send it off, about 6 weeks later I got ~£1200 from Barclaycard, basically once they get your form they check your account details against their records and if you fit one of the criteria for being ineligible, e.g. self-employed at the time you were sold the policy, they pay out.

OK Skip, I may well try that then. I wasn't self employed, but I was told that I stood a better chance of being approved so they basically bully you into taking it when I already had cover

As I understand it, if you put that in the complaint section of the form it stands a reasonable chance of being accepted. Although it depends on the lenders compensation policy which changes from time to time.
