Result Oxford win

Oxford have just won the boat race. Lots of crowds lined the river banks. Cambridge made a valiant effort to a reasonably close finish.

When I was a squit just after WW2 we used to be able to buy dark or light coloured rosettes to wear on boat race day. That type of support has disappeared completely and it is very comfortable to watch the race on TV comfortably at ease. As a great sporting event I hope that the boat race will be kept on the calendar.

I always supported Cambridge. Never got to uni, but I have always preferred pale blue over dark.
IIRC, it gave school kids another reason to gang up and pounce on unfortunate supporters of the "other" crew.
