I see from the other thread, that DaveB is now working again too, well done old bean.
Interesting to see your thoughts on.leaving Navy @ 1989, roughly mirror my thoughts on leaving RAF after12 in,
in 1991. 3 redundancies, and one TUPE transfer later, not necessarily in that order, still think I made the right choice

Hi Pete
Yup.. I've no regrets about that decision. While my folks wanted to see me as a Radio Supervisor(Petty Officer).. I was actually more comfortable being a Leading Hand. The next move up would have been nice but I'd have found myself doing more admin and general ship evolutions (Petty Officer of the day e t c) and I really didn't fancy that. I actually took my RS provisional exam and passed but left before it went further. You gotta do what you gotta do

Talking Navy things Dave...I was sent a nice old photo today of my Grandad and Mum on Margate sea front...He was a gunner on trawlers in WW1:-
My mother was born in 1910 so I guess this photo was about 1915
