OK, it's funny, but no more so than hetero jokes. (I sense some anti - gay sentiments floating about.)
Their preferences are no different to preferring beer over whisky, pipe tobacco over cigarettes, or redheads rather than blondes.

Gays are just attracted to the same sex, and just like heteros, they're not at it like rabbits all day long;
they have long term loving relationships, and sex is just an occasional expression of that love.
Not that I've shared a bed to say 100%, but I understand that using the back door is not universal. There are other stimulation methods.

Never been tempted myself, but I've met a number of them. For the most part, unless they told you, you wouldn't even know.
