Classic British Flight Sim

Those of a certain age visiting the cinema in the 1960's might remember the series of short documentaries entitled 'Look At Life'. These films looked at various aspects of daily life in Britain at that time.Recently BBC4 ran some of these under the series title of 'Britain On Film'
It seems they are starting at new series tonight at 20.00 and should be very entertaining and evocative.Although not primarily aviation related,in the previous broadcasts there were times when airliners of the period featured. EricT

Thanks, I have set my timer for that program and i don't know about you but i still remember our local Flicks in the 60's when the lights dimmed and the chap down the front came up though the floor playing the Organ with its lights changing color,

But ... if anybody else wants to record Seinfeld and Springwatch at the same time, then Britain on Film is repeated on Tuesday morning at 0200.

Oh dear.. I realised too late I'd missed it and being BBC4.. there's no +1 That said, if I'm reading Roger's comments correctly, nothing missed which is a shame.

I just watched the recording. I've obviously got lower expectations than you, Roger

I thought it was pretty much the same standard as the rest of the 'Look at Life' series. I rather enjoy seeing Britain from the viewpoint of the 60s. The immigration stories about West Indians, Polish and Chinese seemed very naive - knowing what we know now.

Nice to see the last throes of real money, too. How would we feel now if they re-introduced it? Four farthings or two halfpennies to a penny. Twelve pennies or two tanners to a shilling (a bob) and twenty shillings to a pound. Not to mention two bob bits (florin), half a crown and for posh people, a guinea. I was trying to do a mental calculation of a handful of change that someone was showing us but I spent so long looking at the thrupenny bit I never got round to the rest of it

Well i jumped the gun as not having seen the series before i thought it would be showing more about Britain but i will look at the others!

As you say about the "real money" i used to enjoy looking though my change to see if i could find any coins worth keeping, dates were one thing and the condition another, so when the Decimal came in that all went out the window!
