That's really cool. All the best inventions are simple.
A more high-tech version of those could be incorporated in modern Western homes to illuminate lofts - or sheds.

Is it April 1st, what happens at nite then? i would love to try it but i'm buggered if i'm cutting a hole in the roof of my place for 60 watts

Even at 60 watts for a batch of them, it's still "brilliant"

At night, it lets more dark in, so it's easier to sleep.

Could be handy if the predicted power shortages occur here in a couple of years.Won't be necessary for the politicians and the like pushing all the green policies which will be responsible for this.They will ensure that they have their own generators at the ready(paid for by the taxpayer of course).Oh sod it,here I go again,off on another rant!
