Hello all,
I saw this today and wondered what ship it is... the photo was taken from 14000' so it is very heavily cropped as I took it with a Point-and-Shoot...

Anyone got any ideas?

With what looks like about 95% of full sail out and no bow wave or wake I'm guessing the wind must be light to none down there.
Could it be the 'Kruzensthern' perhaps?

It definitely looks like a 4-masted barque to me.

Ben, you amaze me yet again.
The way technology is going, there should never be another lost dog notice, or missing criminal, even if they've been taken by shark to the middle of the ocean!

Hi guys , from a visit to the ATC centre at Fareham earlier this year . We learned that London Centre [ the 121.5, 343, Mayday tracking cell ] as well as fixing using transponders and DF can bring up Flight Radar 24 . More importantly if you are ditching they can bring up Shipfinder and Ship Ais to give you a steer to a ship position only 5 mins adrift , mostly a max of only 2 miles incorrect , probably only 1 mile out if it's a long supertanker .... mind you a tanker could only throw a lifebelt over as she'd take 10 miles to stop !
