Apologies if this has been posted before, but just in case it hasn't, here are some remarkable views of Kai Tak landings. Pause during the first few seconds to have a look at the approach chart.

Always worth a watch and it never ceases to amaze me that aircraft of such size had to do an approach like that. I'd love to see more of that Air France Concorde's approach - that must have been spectacular.

That was actually quite a good compilation, despite them all being recycled from other videos - with a nod to Nev's comment about the totally unsuitable background music.
It's surprising how few decent videos there are of the Checkerboard approach - considering that it wasn't that long ago, there were a lot of good vantage points and video cameras and aircraft spotters were in abundance in the area. What were they all doing?
Getting drunk, I suppose

Damn you all! I get on that YT and nothing gets done, now I'm in trouble with SWMBO for the lawn hasn't been mowed and the yard collection is tomorrow. A host of other stuff overlooked. Am I a man or mouse ... squeeek

I'm not surprised there is not as much vid as there should be.
I've lost all my videos.
They were tapes and marriage break up, mould. snapping. crunching. stretching etc...all took their toll one by one until there was nothing left
I guess a lot of what was shot then suffered a similar fate.

I'd take a lot of beavers for that to happen.Vancouver wrote:Damn you all!
