Save Money - Buy CD Keys

Not sure if this really belongs in this section but it might one day... Just bought Battlefield 4 for £32.90 instead of the almost £45 asked for on Origin. The reason for the disparity in price is that I paid for the CD key only via http://www.cdkeys.com and then used that key to validate and download the game from Origin. Even Amazon are doing this and I understand there are one or two others in this game as well. http://www.cdkeys.com had the lowest price so I went with them; not too much of a faff - took about 10-15 mins in all to purchase, validate and start the download.

So... we used to save money by buying download versions but there doesn't seem to be too much of a saving these days via that route and now we have the next step which is to buy the key only. Could it be that the next step still will be, for a small consideration, to buy just the thought of owning the game?

Feel free to move to Escorts and Stewards if it's felt that this subject belongs there.

Regards,
Chris

Hi Chris :)

It's as good here as anywhere else mate ;)

That's a decent saving and a darned good idea if you have BB to cope with the D/L

Chris, your links are dud ;)

Maybe either short term offer, not exactly legal for whatever reason or withdrawn until sales have started to ebb?

Links fixed John. No reason to suspect that this is either short-term or illegal. The number of sites offering the keys only service is growing and even Amazon do it. In any case it looks like a viable option in the never ending search for the cheaper game hit.

Chris

Yes, I agree - although I have been 'stung' by such an offer in the past, which turned out to be illegal.

I wasn't meaning illegal as in piracy, but rather maybe not had permission to release yet or something similar (just to clear that up).

Having been a complete BF2 junkie for several years in the mid noughties - even joined a couple of 'clans' - I would normally jump at that, but I just got so fed up of all the behaviour on servers (even our own clan server) that it sort of turned me off BF altogether. I'm an ArmA junkie now! B)smk

I know what you mean John. I'm part of a clan (Mad Monks) - a bunch of Brits, Belgians, Dutch, Norwegians and Fins and very friendly at that. If you ever feel like taking up the big stick again feel free to join. I've played Arma but confess that I find the control mechanism a little clunky and I CBA with all the tactical stuff, I just like to get stuck in - mind you that usual results in far more deaths than it does kills but I still enjoy it.

Chris
