And more than this - the image of that dot captures the very moment, frozen in time, when the inhabitants of our planet took a break from their normal activities to go outside and acknowledge our "coming of age" as planetary explorers and the audacious interplanetary salute between robot and maker that this image represents.

What complete tosh! My imagination gave up at that point.. before that point actually

Interesting thought but I prefer the astronomer/educator Neil De Grasse Tyson's thoughts on the subject, in that it makes him feel highly significant. His reasoning being that we may just be the only self aware intelligent beings in the universe which contains an estimated 200 billion galaxies containing on average 200 - 400 billion stars each.
