Didn't they....weren't they... that's not supposed....how the dickens did they manage that in these days of technology and communication?
Maybe Boeings are cursed. In the early 60s, I saw one (707) land at Northolt. I think they stretched the pilot across the runway to catapult the emptied craft back into the sky.

But if that's a laden aircraft Garry, they may have trouble removing the cargo to make it light

Yes Dave.
They'll have to remove the cargo, most of the fuel, and most importantly the pilots wallets

No worries, say officials, they will attempt the take off at noon today (thursday) Below is a link that is supposed to be streaming it.
http://www.wptv.com/dpp/news/national/b ... fb-attempt
Howwever, it's 12:30 EST .... riiiiiight NOW soo that's probably 12:00 CST 1 oclock EST or 5 GMT
right now the streaming is covering the politicians casting votes for something that will probably never take off.
If by some miracle what ever they vote on does take off, it will probably crash, much like Obama's ACA website.

McConnell is a pickup point only for the Dreamlifter. It may be heavy on fuel, but there will be no substantial cargo onboard. I personally want to hear the ATC tape of their approach because there should have been several opportunities for ATC to realize they were lined up for the wrong airport prior to handoff to tower. While the crew has the final and ultimate responsibility, there may be a controller with questions to answer. As Wichita is a Class-C Airspace, the Dreamlifter, flying VFR or IFR would have been talking to them and Wichita should have seen them getting low well before handoff.
