I'm on WinXP and it just tried it on all my browsers and it works fine...IE8, Firefox, Google Chrome and Safari...I must admit that IE8 was amazingly slow, which is why I never use it.

Hi Peter :hello:

Yes.. the 'IE10' was a faux pas (I've just moved from 10 to 11 on my Win7 machine).. WinXP only goes as far as IE8. Incredibly slow it was plus I had a gold shield with an exclam in the bottom LH corner *-) It didn't want to do anything until I clicked OK to that subscribe window and I didn't want to subscribe to anything. Perhaps it just wasn't happening fast enough for me *-) I was able to read a bit of it before it all ground to a halt.

Just close that annoying little subscriber window, then the main window brightens up. These days I favour Google Chrome and find it fastest of all. There used to be suspect downloads and things on Chrome but I have been using it for a long time now with all my FTX downloads etc and have no problems with it...I do use Internet Download Manager and wouldn't be without it :)

Rgr that Peter ;)

The annoying little subscriber window wouldn't close using the 'X' on the top RH corner hence me hitting the 'OK' button to move the page on. I guess that page is written for the newer browsers and that's what the problem was ;)

Hi chaps,

The site tries to download a dubious js file (JavaScript) which IE11 blocks, but other than that you should be able to read the article :)

Funny you mention that Ben. IE8 started coming up with a 'Stop reading script?' box shortly after then it stopped responding completely :-O

Thanks for the link Peter. I had no problem with my iPad and Safari, I just had to dismiss the subscribe window.

It reminded me of a recent interview with Jerri Truhill a test pilot and one of the Mercury 13 women who passed all of the NASA physical and psychological tests to be astronauts in the 60s. Of course they never went into space.

The interview was on Radio 4s Saturday Live in October and you can listen to the episode here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03d7v5c

The interview with Jerri Truhill starts at 46 mins 4 seconds and lasts 10 minutes. Well worth a listen.

Jon

PS This interview was recorded 18/10/13 Mrs Truhill died 18/11/13.

Same here on my Android Google device. . But without the subscribe offer. I'm feeling a bit left out.
Ah well...
