It always had a slightly different sound to other Dart powered aircraft. I found this captured the sound ver well and nice pic quality too :)

Still have the type rating on my licence; albeit 'parked' now.

Ha, I got ATP too... Known as the Skoda, Skodas being more reliable lol

F27 had some really neat innovations for operating out in the sticks, no hydraulics
for starters, used compressed air instead. Soon learnt not to try tweeking the Darts too much, ours ex Icelandic, had
-7 Darts.

Great quality pictures of a beautifully clean example of this aircraft. Brings back some VERY happy memories of watching displays by the RNLAF crews in the 60's and 70's ...

Thanks for sharing the link,
Ro

Pete..

Fokker always lauded the no hydraulics..uses pneumatuics, yet, the first thing they did when re engineering into the F.50 was replace with hydraulics.

You can see the pneumatics working well in the U/C retraction...how they leap partly up then slowly fold away. pneumatics do appear at least, to be a little jerky in operatuion, but of course, no nasty corrosive chemical oils. If there was a leak, there could be a shortage of th correct hydraulic fluid, but they could usually find some air

When I travelled a lot in them, I used to listen out for the hiss that told me the gear was about to drop.

The brakes being pumped made itself well known too...oh the memories :)

I like flying in the type. Did the job it was on very well, as did the Herald.. Tough and dependable. Rarely was there a delay with anything that couldn't be fixed quickly. The only real tech delays were cause by awaiting a part to be flown down from Norwich. Once on site it was a usually quick change and off we went.

It just got on with the job...what more can you ask for

Garry , I was normally hitching a ride To ''Naarige'' , and I guess they were going to get your part , but they never had a job when I was available .
