Next best.. I don't have the IoM as it'd take my monthly BB allowance in one shotDave B would have received one in a golden envelope, because he's their best customer
Note: Darren knows this too and he's STILL not done anything about it!
I wonder how the hell that will install and what it'll bu99er up in the process

Re: Earth Sim UK Gallery
I broke down and bought IoM last night
Download & installation took about an hour and half, but I've not had a chance to try it out yet.
That new UK photoscenery looks very good, but judging from what Darren posted on their forum it's going to be about 350gb per region, broken up the same as GenX. So you're looking at over a terabyte just for England & Wales
Can't help thinking it's going to be a blur-fest on anything other than a top end PC with fast SSDs, not to mention OOMs.

Re: Earth Sim UK Gallery
Well that counts me out Dave
What download size is the IoM? You must let us know how it runs too.. in comparison to say Guernsey

Re: Earth Sim UK Gallery
It sounds like a must have for the UK but I'm just not flying FSX as much as I used to to justify the expense
I've got quite into my model making (actual not virtual ) and so the few hours I have to spare are devoted to that.
I think it might be the effect of the recession. Just don't have the time or the dosh anymore
But I'm keeping a beedy eye on it. Because when the summer comes I may just have to drag the P47 out for a few circuits round Duxford

Download size is about 12gigs Dave.
Just copying the scenery.cfg entries over to P3d now, then I'm going flying

Cheers Dave
If I had faster BB, I'd wait until after midnight to download it but I'm not gonna do that with the 6-7mb I get. I'll wait (continue to wait) for the DVD version I think

Re: Earth Sim UK Gallery
Hmm. Looks like I've got some missing textures at Jurby. So that means another 12gig re-download

Re: Earth Sim UK Gallery
Are you going to uninstall it Dave or use 'Repair'? I guess it still equates to another 12gig download

Re: Earth Sim UK Gallery
Well, I selected "repair", but it's just downloading the whole lot again
They do some great scenery, but their installer is a nightmare.
I'm pretty sure most of the files were OK as everything else look OK. Probably only half a dozen files, couple of megs worth at most
What I saw looked pretty good. Frames rates a bit better than Guernsey. Probably because things are more spaced out. Guernsey's pretty well packed.
Won't get chance to retry it today now. The ladies will be back from karate soon, so that will be my PC time up for the night
