An interesting concept only time will tell obviously, personally the way the world is today that as for cargo, people want it yesterday! pleasure flights, great and in some places around the globe it will come in to it's own where aircraft and ships can't work,

Back in the '80's there was Airship Industried who were buidoing the Skyships.

They were for long distance crago flights.

I don't see what's changed now to make it viable.

Yes been looking forward to this. Its been in there since December.
I've had a glimpse of it during inflation when the hanger door was opened slightly a couple of weeks ago.

Dodger, I would fly in it anytime. I had a flight in the Zeppelin NT a couple of years ago when it was flying around Long Beach in California. It was very stable at a sedately 40knots for an hour, you could walk around and even open the windows!

Interesting, yes.
Totally agree that the stupid graphics and sounds were a spoiler.
I wonder who will buy/operate the "hundreds" to be built?
If it's taking them a year to reassemble and test one that's already built, where's the capacity to build hundreds...perhaps this is a l o n g -term project.

Mike...this is the same story as I mentioned above with Airship Industries

They talk of five tonnes ( Herald size load, ther were about six I think)...no one will be interrested unless they carry hundreds of tonnes.

Everyone wants their freight quickly, one of the reasons for the failure years ago.

Now it's more so.

So it will continue to be ships for bulk to ports where the inferstructure exist to distribute, or small and urgent by air.

The inbetween market is too small.

Excuse my apparent cynicism.

A year since US mil dumped them,
so a nice birthday puff-piece, (literally).
Expect similar annually, (as per all previous iterations).

Info was a conflation of as-built, and future build projected vehicle performance.

Vehicle came in 5 tonnes overweight,
with resulting performance degraded to
1.2 tonne payload for 5 days duration @ only 20,000 ft,
and a 1,000ft take-off run, (which defeated the entire point).
