Oh bugger!

I just clicked on a link on a fake email.

Why? Don't know - I'm the one who is always telling everyone all the time, not to click on any links in emails. At all. I'm the one who always just scoffs and says people deserve to be scammed if they are stupid enough to click on email links - especially from people they don't know or aren't expecting.

Yes, I wasn't feeling well yesterday and yes, I have a spinning head this morning. No excuse.

At least it was on a webmail account and not on my PC client. I use that address specifically for stuff I suspect will result in endless spamming. Nevertheless, I feel a right plonker and accept any and all time-wasting, address-diverting and search engine sabotaging badness that comes my way. I thoroughly deserve it.

I am that idiot. :((

You ought to try MailWasherPro. You can examine emails before downloading.

It's okay, George, it's entirely web based mail for this particular address - I don't download anything except normal browser stuff, which gets cleaned out daily.

I strongly suspect they are simply collecting email addresses from YouTube users in order to try and crack their passwords (as the email is used to log in to YT accounts) but this won't work for my account as I use a different one.

There is a distinct advantage to having several email accounts. I also now use the email blocker (and tracking blocker) for Firefox, which I've found to be very useful:
