You're spot on Dave. I was thinking KHz instead of FT

I've also go a hand drawn map of the airfield with "DECCA" marked, which I'm assuming is ground radar and "RAR" and I can't think what that could mean. I have the frequency for the NDB, but no idea where it was located. :dunno:

I've got the frequencies below, some of which are obvious, but some I'm less sure of (largely because I'm knackered and not thinking clearly, so any ideas on those would be great. I can't think what the MHz frequency for Radar would be used for or the KHz for Radar or ILS? NDB is self explanatory, but as I said, no idea where it was located. also, in the image below there's a CR DF Homer.
EDIT
CR DF Homer is the VOR, found it on GE images from 2002 :cpu: :)

Radar - 124.4 & 360.9 (I think)
ILS - 108.3 & 334.1 - BQ
NDB - 391.5 - BQ

Yes, Dave's correct, they are masts.

Radar - 124.4 & 360.9 (I think) - Com frequencies... VHF and UHF - both Mhz
ILS - 108.3 & 334.1 - BQ - I would think the 108.3 is the localizer frequency and the 334.1 the glideslope.
NDB - 391.5 - BQ

I think the zigzags indicate they are lit.

The link above is not hyperlinking the _Frequencies for some reason.... you need it to get to the right page.

Thanks Nigel,

That's great!

I think what I thought was the NDB, may be a VOR. Its not there anymore, but was still physically there in 2002. What would you say the image below is? I can't see reference to a Bedford VOR on my charts though :dunno:

Me too Dave, but i can find no reference to it on the charts I have. I'm guessing it wasn't called Bedford, so not sure where to go to get the details for it.

I can't remember what its called at the moment, but we had one at Llanbedr & it read the compass direction of the transmission from the aircraft - in the case of the Jindi its telemetry transmitter.

Cheers Keith

Given what went on at Bedford that sounds plausible.

I think I've remembered DRDF?
Keith

[edit] Google comes up with: Digital Resolution Direction Finder & further on, the RAF at Cosford run courses on the FGRI 23310 DRDF.

Brilliant Keith, thanks very much. When you start digging around these airfields you find all sorts. Thanks for getting to the bottom of it for me. It was driving me nuts :)
