Why is the above named different from the other 3?

Because on a Boeing 707 the other three are named 'inner port wing engine', 'inner starboard wing engine' and 'outer starboard wing engine' ?

Or have I missed something here ?

EDIT: Obviously, I have.

Ha ha ha ha ha! How very clever of you to point that out to me! I should have put a comma in after 'named'. :tunes: :welldone: B-)

Therefore : Why is the above named, different from the other 3?
Answer: Because the other 3 each have turbo compressors!

Having just come in from work and read this, it makes absolutely no sense to me at all. Perhaps my mind is still somewhere on the A5 *-)

Can you honestly say that you have never considered the engines on a 707 whilst driving along the A5? 8) :guinn:

Anyway, what were you doing in work at 9 o'clock on a Saturday night? You should have been getting ready to go to the pub and to discuss things like engines etc with your mates! :guinn: :guinn: :guinn: :guinn: :guinn: :guinn: :guinn: :guinn:

Are we talking about Pratt and Whitney engined 707s, or RR engined ones . The nacelles are quite different, as indeed are those of the early non-by-pass engines

That aside, I remain confused by the original question but fear not.. I've been confused before

As for going down the pub with my mates on a Saturday night (or any other night)..
A) Having lived in pubs for 23years, I'm all pubbed out
B) I don't have any mates!
