100th anniversary

Radio special on account of Anzac Day approaching, and being the centenary of WWI;
They mentioned that the first shot fired during that war was to stop a German freighter trying to escape from Port Phillip Bay, in Victoria, Australia.
A team is hoping to recover the shell from the sand near the Heads. (It was a non-explosive warning shot.)
Thought you may like to add this to your knowledge base.
Cheers.

Duly added Mike.

Nice to see Remembrance wherever conducted. Perhaps politicians should serve on the front line - they may not be as keen to kick off then - won't hold my breath though.

It's 100 years from the start of that war, but not the 100th anniversary. :doh:
Thanks for not calling me the idiot that I am.
