The End Is Nigh For G-JOEY

Post by Garry Russell »

Aurigny will soon be replacing the Tislanders with three Dornier 228's

At the moment three of the Trislanders are on duty at any time and no longer fly to Jersey. The Guernsey Jersey route is now a joint Aurigny/Blue Islands route with all flights being operated by Blue Islands ATR.42 aircraft.

This autumn should see the end of the Trislander, although no set date has been decided as the 228's are being sourced.

G-JOEY is likely to be preserved.

Still in daily use and still smiling in the all to rare sunshine

Aurigny have used the type for 43 years, but none of the fleet is been in use that long.

G-JOEY is 39 and been with Aurigny for 33 years.

Originally it was in a white and orange livery from it's previous owner ans at that time G-BDGG

G-RLON is still flying and that too is 39 but only been with Aurigny for 23 years having previously been G-OCTA with Octavia Aviation and later Gib Air. It became G-ITEX with Aurigny then G-RLON and has never gone back to it's original G-BCXW.

Many have been re winged and it has been said that G-JOEY has the wings from a Defender.
