Spotting

We are lucky where we live, in that we do tend to see quite a mixture of interesting skylife.

Within half an hour of returning from Colerne, I was treated to an aerial display by the local clipped-wing Spitfire (complete with invasion stripes). It was very good - probably practising for the D-Day anniversary event.

I didn't have time to switch to the lower res, which would have let me zoom in a bit more - but it looks nice anyway:

Later we had a very unusual visitor for these parts - an Osprey:

First time I've ever seen one.

Hi JD,

I think that Osprey is a great invention providing when on the ground you don't move the props from Horizontal to the Vertical

Alphasim made a good model of it for FS 2004,

Cheers,

Roger.

I bet the Spitfire sounded brilliant!

I was stuck at work today and we were treated to a BBMF Hurricane flypast. Sent shivers down the old spine that's for sure!

Managed to get a bit on film too.

Thanks, Rob - it's a bit frustrating just getting a distant few seconds, isn't it? I got a similar clip of the Spitfire, but with my ultra-slow connection it would take ages to upload :(

Thank you Rob.
Even hearing the recording does the shiver thing.
Isn't it a wonderful sound? I do like 1930s music too.
