Thank you JOhn,
Used to see the Transport Command versions daily into and out of Northolt when I lived in the UK.
I've often wondered why the engine cowls are so different to the similarly engined Oxford, my favourite twin engine trainer.
Lovely to see this. Well done for finding. ;)

I guess it's no more than a design feature Mike as both ran Cheetah's as I'm sure you know ;) . Avro chose to cosset the engines where Airspeed went for the more traditional 'lob some sheet ally around it' method :cpu: No doubting Avro's design was more labour intensive and expensive to produce but it's rather more pleasing than the straight forward cowlings on the Oxford.. I think

Later marks of Anson did have smooth cowls. ;)

Oh yes indeed mate. I bet any loss of streamlining on the later versions was more than made up for by ease of manufacture and maintenance as well as cost :)

I much prefer the Mk1's lumpy cowls though. Give's it more character.
The FSAddon Anson looks pretty interesting. I think they're doing the later marks as well if memory serves. *-)
You may finally get that C.19 Dave.

Yup. I know how much you didn't really want to do the Anson in the first place and appreciate what a complete tw@t it must be having to make something you don't particularly like ;) Not saying that you dislike it.. just that you didn't like it enough to make one

Been keeping an eye on FSAddon's for a while and was chuffed to see it in beta. That said.. it's reportedly been 'nearly there' for some weeks now but I can wait.. particularly as other variants are, as you mentioned, being made too. I DO hope Simon's paintkit for it is a bit more fun than his others 8)

One thing I noticed was that the undercarriage on this Anson retracts within a few seconds, unlike the AF or A2A Mk1 model, on which it takes half a circuit to raise.

I'm guessing that later marks had 'automatic' or pneumatic operation, whereas the Mk1 was a manual wind job.

Love the early windscreen on this. The Airfix kit always had this windscreen on the box, several versions, but the model had the later steeper windscreen.

Looks good flying around the circuit :)
