U.K about to order the P-8 Poseidon ?

Reading through the latest issue of Combat Aircraft magazine, there's a brief article about the Poseidon's recent appearances at various UK arshows - most importantly, Farnborough. It also reports that a significant number of UK personnel are currently deployed in the US with P-8 units as part of Project 'Seedcorn ' and several came with the aircraft on its British visit. From the same article, quote 'Many expect the UK to announce a P-8 deal soon, to meet the RAF's maritime patrol needs'.
So chaps, no great surprise really - I think several people here at CBFS mentioned the P-8 way back when the Nimrod MR4 was scrapped. Any thoughts, or any further insights from those of us 'in the know' ? The P-8 strikes me as a very good maritime patrol aircraft, and we've just got to have something better than a bloke standing on the open tail ramp of a C-130 with a pair of binoculars and a torch.

I think Ben would prefer the bloke on the ramp mit bino's and torch rather than have more 737's sneaking into the country

Thanks Paul,
I was one who mentioned the P-8 Poseidon way back but as usual with this country it takes so long to get things that are important to us done,
I really wonder where these people come from but i will not say anymore only that it's great news at last,
Roger.

He's not the only one, and I wish someone in authority would tell us just how this is going to be cheaper than continuing with our established home grown solution would have been when taking everything into consideration !

Throughout the years many US types have been at airshows and personnel deployed with the RAF with types the RAF never operated. This is due to the USAF working with the RAF as various parts of an overall strategy. That in itself doesn't mean we are about to make an order.
Maybe there is ground...maybe it's just reading to much into collaboration.

Resistance if futile. Its that, or we still have a few Sunderlands sitting around.

Hi Folks
A general comment, not directed at Paul's original.
The P-8 strikes me as a very good maritime patrol aircraft,
So we dumped an aircraft that could fly non-stop, no-refuel,
from Kinloss direct to Hawaii, alternatively to beyond Capetown, SA.
Replacing it with one that can't even reach Lisbon ?
