Greetings Gentlemen,
The view counters seem to have gone off the scale in recent days.
Usually, a busy post is viewed 400 odd times, but we're seeing THOUSANDS against items that only started 3 or 4 days ago.
Any ideas? Have we attracted massive interest from outside our ranks?

Anything is possible Mike. I commented to Ben yesterday that the forum had slowed to a crawl so he re-booted the server. This sped things up for a while but checking again before I went to bed last night/early A.M.. it had slowed again. Seems alright this morning but we'll keep an eye on it should something untoward be going on

Thks George
DG has reported that he noticed the forum slow yesterday too and he tried to check his CBFS mail this morning and it threw an error. We may be under attack

I see what you mean Mike, the Avro 504K thread in Payware heads up!! that I contributed some posts to is at almost 5000 views
Spambots trawling through posts?

That does seem incredibly unlikely doesn't it.. over 5000 views that is
EDIT: I wonder if it's to do with that 504K link JD put up

Isn't that just a YT link?
I know I did mention this forum on one or two others that I have visited when something relevant to classic British came up - maybe people have been coming for a look?
Admittedly, 5,000 is a lot, but who knows?
Thanks for shoving the blame on me, though Dave

I wasn't shoving any blame anywhere John
I'm a big fan of coincidences and I wondered if by some ungodly chance that users/interested parties were finding here via YouTube or alternatively, finding the YouTube link via here. It all seems very unlikely but when a thread like that suddenly gets nearly 5000 hits.. you have to start looking at the unlikely

I'm sure the YouTube link has nothing to do with it but we were obviously being hit by something yesterday. I don't have access to our stats page so I can't determine from where the hits were coming. Our Ben will sort it though.. he sorts everything
EDIT: I
do have access to our stats page but having had a good dig around, I can't find anything to suggest why the 504 thread has had so many hits. This said, I didn't really know what I was looking at so the answer could have been staring me right in the mush!

Here's a good test.
This is another Avro 504k video on YT.

Let's see how this thread's view count fares...

Thanks for posting this everyone. I just installed a new router yesterday and when CBFS was crawling, I thought it might be my router but other sites were ok so I left well enough alone. Today the site appears to be running normally.
