Cheers Dave. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Now wondering if there are any aftermarket decals for the Airfix Spitfire Mk1 that I have sitting in a box (I haven't built a kit since my teen years

, but would like to give this a go).

Watched about 30 seconds of 1 part of it. 3 minutes to fill an ammo box. Yet another of these stupid, artificial " challenges " . AAAARGH

I've watched a few of the programmes that involved Guy Martin getting his hands dirty. Although to me, he looks dirty all the time! One thing I find annoying about him, is that he keeps on repeating himself, keeps on repeating himself.
He's also a very good motorbike bike racer. I watched a programme that followed him racing in the IOM. He was up with the leaders when he stopped to refuel. He then restarted, and the next time he came into view he was emerging from a massive fireball. Sliding down the road unconcious. The crash was caused by a fuel spillage which got on his tyres, and Whoosh! He was badly injured, and was lucky to survive. But he is back racing. Tough little beggar. Tough little beggar.
Back to the Spitfire. I did enjoy the programme, but introducing two ladies to their fathers aeroplane was a bit far fetched I thought. It was a brand new replica surely? Just like the one he crash landed on the beach, but was there actually any part of that plane used in the new one?

I agree with that Dennis.. agree with that Dennis
You have to take him tongue in cheek and I can see how his manner would wind a lot of people up. He winds ME up sometimes

Although the daughters appeared to be introduced to their fathers Spitfire, I got a feeling they were aware it wasn't his and were pleased that it had been made and finished to represent his aircraft. Any suggestion that it
was his would be complete poop (though I agree, Guy presented it as such).
Though I like Guy Martin, I much prefer Fred Dibna. They're similar in a number of ways with the main difference being Fred always knew what he was talking about

Guy now joins the likes of Joanna Lumley.. he has a Spitfire and she has the Nile

Fred wouldn't have flown in a Spitfire. It would have meant him taking his cap off, and putting his fag out.

Curiously enough, on the one and only occasion that I sat in a Spitfire , last year , Fred Dibnah's red headed son helped me up onto the wing ! The chap who bought this Spit also bought most of Fred's collection, and his son maintains it all
