Classic British Flight Sim

Here's a bit of a Heath Robinson thing if ever there was one, its a model I photographed at the Mucklebourgh Collection at Weybourne in Norfolk while on holiday. A Sea Scout Class Airship. Seems to be partly made up of a fuselage of a Be2 with a Gas bag above.
Wonder how it handled

Now there's the solution to the "no planes for our new carrier" problem!

Hmm.. necessity being the mother of invention! I wonder how it handled too!

According to a book I own the airship was "simple to fly". Here are a couple of quotes from the book regarding the Sea Scout airships.

"...its specification called for a 50 mph maximum speed and an endurance of 8 hours while carrying a crew of two, 160 lb of bombs and radio set with a range of 30 miles. Significantly, it would have to be capable of mass production."

"Despite their many shortcomings, the 'SS' ships provided air cover when no other aircraft could do so. Being simple to fly, they gave the new generation of airshipmen first-class experience and prepared them for command of the improved airships which followed."

The book I own is titled 'Battlebags: British Airships of the First World War an Illustrated History'. It's a great book for airship mavens. Here's a link with more info regarding the book.

Must have been a sitting duck for enemy aircraft though You'd see it puttering around miles away...
