Velocity Elite Rg In-Flight Video and Pictures

Hi All,

Saturday, a friend of mine took me up in his Velocity Elite. He gave me command of the plane for awhile and I must say it was a dream to fly. Different in may ways than any other aircraft I've flown by far. It takes very little input to chance course or altitude.
The Panel layout is Fabulous!. (Mike is a retired Sony engineer) Very easy to cop a look at the systems and attitude of the plane. I performed the turn back at a nice slow rate. After completing it, Mike said I could have pulled the turn at 5 g's if I wanted, No Problem.
( I wouldn't have wanted to I thought to myself :worried: )

We cruised out to Pahokee (KPHK) and back at 160+ kts with power at 65% (how does that grab ya Mac?) ;)

It was a little bumpy with the cold front coming in over us, but she handled it no problem. Enough though that once back on ground I felt I was still in flight...
I love that feeling.

Sorry for the shaky video. If it bothers you . pop a Dramamine :wasntme:

The file is huge and in HD -so watching on a mobile device with limited bandwidth is at your own risk

Love the Gull wing doors

The design affords an excellent view of sky and terrain. Just off center (to left) is the threshold for runway 34 at Wellington Aero Club (Private FD38)

This is one very cool looking panel. B-)

Brian,
It has taken years and years (decades) to develop the trust that I have with the pilots at LNA that have afforded me the opportunities I've had.
Sometimes it's just the luck of the draw. For instance, Mike (velocity owner) had said for a long time I'd get to go up with him. But one thing or another kept that from happening. AC repairs, times didn't mess up, etc. Saturday I woke up having a good feeling. Nothing more than that.
I decided to bike to the swap shop to buy a new mirror for my bike. and then started heading to LNA, about 3 miles from there the clouds were closing in and I almost turned back not wanting to get soaked. But I pressed on. Got to the FBO and chatted with a few people I know. Met an "Englishman" who is in the U.S. working on Yachats in Ft. Lauderdale. chatted with him for a while and then thought I'd ride down to Mike's hanger to see if he was in. He was , I rode up and he's like ,
Hey Joe..what's up
I'm like not much.
What are you up to ? I asked
He said I'm thinking about going up.
So I said , Do you have the right seat open?
He said yeap . Wanna go?
and I'm like
yeah,... (stretching arms -big smile) I guess.. 8)

And there you have it. :)

......
I met a man one day at LNA who I'd never have guessed in a million years I would have met there (or anywhere). it blew me away!... perhaps I'll tell that story soon.
Hint ......he was a naval aviator and test pilot.

I reckon you were shaking with excitement, Joe - nothing to do with that cold front!

Rap on the knuckles I'm afraid. :worried: No shout of "clear prop" before starting. It is particularly important with a pusher prop because you cannot see if anyone is in the filed of the prop . Nice aeroplane though

Excellent video Joe, and that's a really well fitted-out aircraft. And I'm glad you didn't take off while the Big Red Light was flashing , upper left corner of the panel. Very prudent.
