** I've forgotten**

What can I do about the tire smoke that I get when the tires are leaving the runway on take off.
Also The touch down is a little too touchy.. VS is within limits but I get a crash... bogies sinking into tarmac.

..... now *-) where is that fsx configgy .... :poke:

Hi Joe,
Is that with ALL aircraft?
To my mind, it sounds like the particular aircraft has a dodgy setting.

Alternative action: DON'T LOOK OUTSIDE! :hide:

it's one AC , yes

I'll have to find a better solution than - not looking out side.

it's the 787 from the usual depositories.... fsx...

Joe,
I d/l a (ugh!) 787 from Flightsim. It's a BOAC "Retrojet" by Camsim.
No VC :doh:
However, it sits on Heathrow runway without sinking. It takes off without tyre smoke.
If that works for you without trouble, you could compare the various characteristics of each. *-)

Some models will trundle around on the ground fine but will produce tyre smoke just prior to lift-off. Is this what you mean Joe? I'm not exactly sure why this happens.. you'll need someone 'learned' I'm afraid but I know DG's Mossie does it and it couldn't be eliminated. Not sure if it's down to contact points or a combination of things *-)

Joe,
I see Dave's comment, which I am sure is 100%. Having already checked this out beforehand, I decided to post just in case.

The BOAC 787 has this in the aircraft.cfg:
[EFFECTS]
wake=fx_wake
water=fx_spray
dirt=fx_tchdrt
concrete=fx_sparks
touchdown=fx_tchdwn, 1
How does yours read?

EDIT: Having read what Dave said, here's the same section for the loverly Mosquito:
[EFFECTS]
wake = fx_wake
water = fx_spray
dirt = fx_tchdrt
concrete = fx_sparks
touchdown = fx_tchdwn_m, 1

Checked the Aerocommander, which is different again, touchdown = fx_tchdwn_s, 1

I've just looked a bit deeper and see that "m" and "s" stand for medium and small smoke.
There is a you tube video here talking about changing files:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbM9jvplzw4
Sadly, this may not help you on take off.
However, there's a discussion on Flightsim.com, see here:
http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthrea ... s-smoking-!!!

So if you have any snow on account of your current season in the US of A, that may be your solution. :dunno:

Thanks gents

I'm working on it. Will post my findings.

Mike the 787 I've got has 737 VC with.

Not exactly correct. But functional. And I like eyebrows to catch a glimpse of the terrain
In high bank maneuver s.

Hi Joe,
d/ld that aircraft.
Deleted the ", 1" from the touchdown=fx_tchdwn, 1
Took off from Heathrow without any smoke, before, during, or after liftoff.
Didn't have the tenacity to turn that huge beast round to see about landing effect.
After dinner, I'll try reinstating the , 1 and see what I see.

Deleted the ", 1" from the touchdown=fx_tchdwn, 1
The ",1" forces the effect to be run once. If you leave it off, it will repeat for as long as "touchdown" is active.
