Prepar3D 2.5 is out now

Post by DaveG »

HU, P3d V2.5 is now out.
Complete re-install required as some folder structure has changed.
Will be trying it out tonight.

Installed it but it does not seem to like Orbx as it (Orbx) keeps telling me that it is unable to find terrain.cfg. Migration tool is switched off and all previous incarnations of P3D removed.

Maybe a corrupt download.

I have updated relatively painlessly, but I don't use ORBX nor any migration tools.

According to John Venema, we should wait for the new Orbx library and FTX Cental to come out. File changes need to added. Patience for now. B-)

Does anyone know what the advantages of the changes to P3DV2's file structure are ? I don't relish yet another complete reinstall unless there is something significant to be gained.

Paul, apparently the new structure provides separation between core P3D and add-ons. What this gives us for the future I don't know, e.g. better protection of core P3D or the ability to create better and more comprehensive add-ons. Seems essentially for better file management.

Regards,
Chris

Ah okay Chris...so this file structure change doesn't bring any improvement in performance ?

Path=SimObjects\Rotorcraft

And no Addon scenery folder now, but you can add your own.

Okay, thanks for that chaps. Nothing that demands an immediate move to 2.5, from what I can tell. :)
