Saw a nice view a short time ago of southern California courtesy of the new HD cameras attached to the International Space Station. Here's the screenie I took. B-)

Here's the link to the new cameras.

I can see my house from here, too.
Just as well, 'cos the screen was black.
Now I'm going to see where the ISS is, maybe on the dark side :OB:
EDIT:
JAVA won't let me see that, and when I try to add an exclusion, it ignores me

Then I get a message that they're changing cameras or blah blah.
Then I get a clear picture, but we have 10/10 cloud cover. :|

I'll try some other time, thanks for the link Mr B Texas. ;)

The HD cameras defintely confirm the fact that 75% of the earth is covered with water. Plenty of water and clouds to see...when the cameras are not being switched.

You can use this website to find when the ISS will be over your city...

...and you can use this website to monitor the ISS' ground track as it approaches your city (scroll down a bit on the website).

Thanks again, Brian.
I've seen it pass over here a couple of times, but I couldn't remember where I got the details of when to look out for it.
I've bookmarked those pages. ;)

I can just hear the commander saying "Moving to lightspeed".....see screenshot :hide:

Thanks for postng, Brian! See that cloud cover over the East Coast? That is what gave us some more snow on Thursday - just what we needed.

:tunes:
All the leaves have gone,
and the sky is grey .............
I'd be safe and warrm
If I was in L.A. (Ug! on second thoughts, I think I'll stay put.)

California Dreamin sounds good around about now.

By coincidence, TheWashington Post published this today:

NASA satellite captures global precipitation, 3-D views of D.C. winter storms (Video)"

NASA has released a global map of rain and snow traveling across the planet over the past six months — the first from a new mission that unites data from a dozen weather-monitoring satellites.:
