It was incomplete and various parts were pulled from other aircraft

Any truth that the fin came from Channel Express *-)

Honestly don't know Garry. It was, as you say, left in bits with a lot of damage done. That picture tells a sad story. When I saw it last, it was immaculate both inside and out :(

Didn't realise this had got into a state. There's not many preserved Heralds now. The one at Duxford seems to be going through a very slow restoration. I have a nasty feeling it will remerge in some long forgotten liver of yesteryear instead of the Air UK colours it was delivered in (like the DAN Air Comet - those get repainted to BOAC or BEA seemingly :dunno: ). The one that used to be on the roof of LGW terminal has been on the fire dump for some years now.

The Dan Air Comet was supposed to stay in DAN colours but when Dan Air went under that no longer applied

There is the Herald at Norwich and another at Elvington.

Love to see the Duxford in her original British United colours. Never liked that Air UK

It's all about what we each remember I suppose :) I think my first ever flight was in an aircraft still in that livery (albeit a F27 by that time). The second Air UK livery is my favourite though. G-BHMY was repainted in the third Air UK livery last year in Norwich. They ought to repaint their Herald now as that's starting to look very tatty too. I'd forgotten about that one actually.

G-BHMY was one of only two F.27-200 to get the third livery. G-BHMW was the other.

As you say it's about memory.

With the Herald, mine is Jersey Airlines, but even more so clearer memory of BUCIA version of the Jersey livery which I loved.

G-APWJ along with 'WI were the only members of that fleet that were never in Jersey Airlines livery as they were owned by Transair although like the other four nominally registered to Airlines (Jersey) Ltd. throughout their BU(CI)A time.
