Fun video. :) A quick look on eBay found one of those dolls...which judging by the description hasn't held up too well these past 58 years.

Nice to see the girls were catered for with toy washing machines. Blimey, can you imagine the outcry today.

Having lived this industry for the best part of 20 years, and been to Toy Fairs on 3 different continents in the past 6 weeks I can say in all honesty not much has changed!

I am sure if you could smell those images the paint would still be wet on the prototypes, the Licensors would still not have approved the designs, and the "special interest" groups would be outside the booth waiting to complain about that washing machine!

All in all a fun Industry for sure, I only wished we made Aircraft Carriers like that!

Cheers,

Fraser

I remember my sister getting a doll, toy iron and ironing board for Christmas..she was very happy, things sure have changed!!.

I had a Mamod steam traction engine, it remained my pride and joy for years until one day my younger brother decided to play with it, but as he didn't have any mentholated spirit for the burner he decided to light a real coal fire in the fire box, when I came home it was a smoldering mess and the aluminum wheels had melted :'(
