Very classy graphics as usual John

If you have any throw with the monument designers.. get them to look at the size of the spinner on the Spit. It could just be the odd angle but it doesn't look right at all in those shots. If it's to be a national monument.. it'd better be right

looking at the shot which shows more of the model climbing up and to the right.. it's really hard to tell which version they're trying to depict. Straight away.. you can see it's supposed to be a Spitfire from it's elliptical wings but without knowing their remit.. you'd be hard pushed to tell which Spitfire it's supposed to be. Is it supposed to be a particular Mk or loose representation of the type? It's never going to be easy merging that beautifully sculptured stand/support with the rear of the Spitfire but again.. you can't really tell from the models fin what Mk of Spitfire it should be. Likewise.. the wings go to a point (or appear to) which I can't recall seeing. The aforementioned spinner looks too long.. like it doesn't belong.

It could be down to the angle of the model in the shot and as I said.. it may be that the remit for the model is loose.. not specific. The monument itself is beautiful.. no arguing that point

I think Dave is right about the spinner, but in the shots, one has a 3 blade prop, and the other has 4 blades. So I guess they are just designer mockups?

I think it's a great idea, and I'm sure the finished product will be well worth a visit.

Yes indeed Dennis. The shot from the rear shows a 4-blade and the other shot (where you see the spinner) a 3-blade.

I think I'm probably being too picky. I expect to see a MkIX everywhere

These were the concept visuals, the real engineering drawings will have the entire Solent Sky archive to draw upon.

We've just taken those two 3 blade visuals out for consistency for now. Thanks guys!

Pity there's no caption on each gallery picture. I like the second row, one back from the right, quite a thoughtful combination.
The factory shots are very interesting, but like a lot of old photos, Mrs Airspeed & I got a bit of a shiver, thinking that those workers are now near, or past, the end of their lives.
