Exploding Engines on DC-6

We're currently taking possession of a new fleet of Mercedes vans at work and I noticed a black, unmarked button to the left of the steering column that wasn't there on the older models. I thought 'shall I press it to see what happens or leave well alone until I find out what it is'? (noting that I was out on a delivery run at the time). I left well alone
Must remember to ask what it does when I'm in tomorrow
