So she sits in the surf for 4 days after mechanical failure and then the salvage crew manage to do this!

Yes..
This was reported by a member over at SoH but I'd not seen the film or noted any detail until now. One would like to think these folk knew what they were doing but surely.. trying to lift it clear of the water with a crane was never going to work. To say it met a sad end at the hands of the sea is a bit rich!!

Sadly a Cat will be of the same value to a film company as an expensive car. They aren't at silly (Spitfire) prices and you can buy one for between $250-400K. Peanuts to the entertainments industry... they probably just needed it off the beach, hence the cowboy salvage.
