At risk of showing my complete ignorance but if you put 2 magnets together negative to negative then they try to move away from each other equally, if two very large spindles are magnatised and drawn together then they would start spinning against each other, one way of generating future electricity at power stations?

This is fascinating indeed.
So many things were thought impossible, which have since become daily life.

Dick Tracey used to impossibly talk into his watch; these days I am still often momentarily confounded by folks speaking behind me in a shop queue - then I spot the ear-bud and little wire disappearing down their shirt.
And remember how you'd burn your knuckles doing toast on a fork in front of the open fire? Now you can burn your toast with an electric toaster. The list is endless.

No sorry, Art. That would contravene the law of Conservation of Energy - Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, only converted. In other words, no system without an external energy supply can deliver an unlimited amount of energy to its surroundings. Eventually, all of the energy in the universe would be used up (most likely converted to heat).
As such, perpetual motion is impossible.
