Les Munro, the last Dambuster pilot, has passed away.

Squadron Leader Les Munro, a native of New Zealand, has passed away at the age of 96. He was the last surviving pilot of the famous raid.

Only two crewmen now survive - Canadian gunner Fred Sutherland and British bomb aimer George Johnson.

A true hero. RIP. It was only March when he was offering up his medals to get a memorial built.
Last night coincidentally I watched a video of the sinking of the Tirpitz. I had not realised that the Dambusters had contributed to that effort. Though I haven't seen Les Munro's name mentioned in any of the obits for that. So I assume he missed that one.
