On the 7pm TV news, there was an item regarding not only organ donation, but tissue donation.
Apparently the tissue needs to be removed within two hours of death, so they asked that prior consents be given to avoid burdening surviving relatives with decision making at an awkward time.

Apparently, this had quite an effect on the newsreader, as he announced that we were moving on to SNORT or something like that.
Then he said that Australians had won some yellowish medals in a pool in Russia.
Then, and here's where it gets weird....he started mumbling a lot and covering his face with a handkerchief, which muffled his voice even more...
I caught something about England......caches(?) mashes(?) maybe even glasses(?) Then he started stabbing a little white doll with a green hat.
I think he said something along the lines of eight will not play again....they have eight in a rowing team at Oxford & Cambridge don't they?....so I really started to lose the thread of the item.
After the picture faded, there were people shouting for an ambulance, so they must have left a microphone on.

Anyhow, if it comes up on your news over there, please let me know what it was all about. :dunno: It probably won't rate there, we're not usually front page news up North.
Thanks anyway. ;)

I don't really know what that was about Mike - unless, no, can't be, just that the Red Arrows flew over here very low and very noisy today and I heard an inordinate amount of cheering from Trent Bridge cricket ground near me. Strange because I could swear I caught the sound of sobbing in the midst of it all. :excited: :welldone:  :wasntme: :tunes:
Cheers  :guinn:

I'm not going to carp on about Australia's score. I'm too much a gentleman, and a former resident anyway.

A bit off topic - can someone remind me which decade it was when we had the Beatles, Carnaby Street, the first moon landing and all that palaver ?
