Alebeo C207 upgrade

Post by Shaun »

Hi guys, so I've just got Fspassengers 2015 and I'm starting from the bottom on career mode. I've chosen the Cessna 207 Skywagon from Alebeo. I'm trying to modify the aircraft into a Stationair 8 by upgrading the engine in the cfg from an IO-520 (285hp@2700rpm) to a TSIO-550 (310hp@2600rpm). I've managed to edit the cylinder displacements, max rpms, compression ratios etc, but I'm not seeing any notable difference with altitude. The ceiling is still stuck at 13,300ft and a cruise at 12,500ft is very slow even on just 70% payload, and a properly leaned mixture. The service ceiling on the turbo model was doubled to 26,000ft however. How do I improve altitude performance? Can I do this in the cfg or would it be in the air file?

That is because the TSIO is Turbocharged and your .cfg file does not say this...I will check on Little Bandit's file for the necessary changes and get back to you here.

Here is the engine part of Little Bandit's .cfg file for the Continental TSIO-550-E 350hp

You should be able to check from the manufacturers data on your new engine and change the numbers to suit.

Ah yes, I did have it on Turbocharged=1, however both the min and max manifolds were set to 0. I never changed this so the turbocharger never worked haha! I've changed them to equal that of the Stationair's turbo. After take off my fuel flows basically doubled and I am happily cruising at 17,500ft :) I will have to steal a manifold pressure gauge from a different aircraft though, as it was off the default gauge's scale (38.8 in Hg).

Well done Shaun...Sounds like a very successful engine change :agree:
