Jedi moment

Do you remember that scene where Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi are stopped by stormtroopers, and OWK waves his hand, says:"We don't need to check their papers...."?

Well, I was driving our museum piece along a highway yesterday, when I came across a forest of flashing blue & red lights.
An Officer of the Law directed the two cars ahead, plus me, into a side street, generously endowed with pursuit vehicles, a gaily painted "Sherrif" car, and some other motorists in a queue.
Some of the queue were pulled aside, and wads of paper were being waved merrily to add to the festive atmosphere.
I watched 5 or 6 vehicles ahead go through a brief interview with the Sherrif, during which he appeared to check licence details.
Got my wallet out in readiness.
I edged forward to the Sherrif.
He stepped up to my window, saying "Good afternoon, I am the Sherrif, and I---"
That's as far as he got!
The two Police further ahead stopped him in his tracks.
They waved me forward, and I obligingly drove to their spot and halted.
They nodded to me and said "You're right to go."
"You sure?"

I am at a loss as to why I ventured that question.

Still, they nodded again and waved me off.

I am at a loss to know why all of this happened.

I am also at a loss to grasp the entirety of "Little Supermassive Black Hole is an oxymoron."
It is a mere 340 million light years away from us, but presumably frighteningly close to the galaxy next door. :worried:
I don't think that there's any connection with my experience, but we do live in interesting times.

Could be something really simple like the guy they were looking for didn't have a beard or was nineteen years old...Some such tiny detail that instantly ruled you out

I'll ignore that explanation. :)
I know that further back down the road, there was a speed camera, and closer to the pull over was a number plate scanner, which is linked to the database of unpaid fines, stolen vehicles etc.
I thought that, having stopped me, the least they'd do was run an alcohol/drug test, or brief roadworthy. :dunno:

Anyway, I'll give you a proper link to that black hole report:
http://www.abc.net.au/science/articles/ ... 291784.htm

And I've just listened to a science radio talk about the lack of identification of microbes on Earth. You're safe, I'm not going to re-tell the story! :hide:

Of course the police forces always deny that they employ "stereo typing" when looking for suspects, but when someone escapes from the local loony bin....well.... :hide:

I think Mike looked at them with those weird eyes, and they were mesmerized.

Fortunate, Mike you were. To cross the Event Horizon, not.
